VW Immobilizer Off (IMMO OFF)

Volkswagen and Audi vehicles use a sophisticated immobilizer system that pairs the ECU to a specific set of keys through the instrument cluster. When the key is inserted (or the smart key is detected), the cluster sends an encrypted challenge to the key's transponder, which responds with a code that the ECU validates before allowing the engine to start. This multi-layer security system is excellent for preventing theft, but it creates significant complications when an ECU needs to be replaced — especially if the original keys are unavailable.

The IMMO OFF service modifies the ECU's firmware to disable the immobilizer verification step. After this modification, the ECU will start the engine without checking for a paired transponder key. This is invaluable in several situations: when you're installing a used ECU from a different vehicle (which is paired to different keys), when building a standalone engine setup for a kit car or race vehicle, when all original keys have been lost and you need to get the vehicle running with a new ECU, or when the instrument cluster (which handles immobilizer communication) has failed and cannot be replaced cost-effectively.

We support all major VW/Audi ECU types including Bosch ME7.x, MED9.x, EDC15, EDC16, EDC17, Siemens/Continental Simos, and Magneti Marelli units. The modification is performed by reading the ECU's firmware, patching the immobilizer routines, and writing the modified firmware back — all done on the bench or in-vehicle depending on the ECU type. The process typically takes 1-3 hours and is performed at your location in Aledo, TX. After IMMO OFF, you can use any compatible key blade to start the vehicle.
